Three truckers named finalists for Goodyear’s annual Highway Hero award

One of three finalists for the 33rd annual Goodyear Highway Hero Award will be announced as the winner during the Mid-America Trucking Show on Thursday, March 31.

This year’s finalists are Mark Cavanagh from Hillsville, Va., Dorian Cole from Los Angeles, and Julian Kaczor from Utica, N.Y.

Cavanagh was selected as a finalist for helping another truck driver after an accident in which the driver was ejected from the truck.

Cole was selected as a finalist for parking his tractor-trailer across several highway lanes to protect a Los Angeles Police Department motorcycle officer who was injured in an accident until paramedics arrived on the scene.

Kaczor was selected as a finalist for pulling a driver from a burning vehicle.

Trucking industry journalists are evaluating the finalists and will select the Goodyear Highway Hero Award recipient.

The finalist who is named the 33rd Goodyear Highway Hero will receive a special ring, a cash award and a congratulatory trophy. Each of the other finalists will receive a cash prize and other items.
