Greatwide revising health plan for owner-operators
August 30, 2010
| by: Overdrive Staff
Greatwide will introduce an indemnity health care plan option for its 3,000 owner-operators, effective Dec. 1, said Rob Newell, vice president of capacity management.
It will replace the optional PPO (preferred provider organization) medical insurance plan for owner-operators, which has been an industry leader, because it is not compliant with levels of coverage mandated by the new federal health care plan, he said.
Newell also said the company is seeking to hire 1,000 owner-operators and company drivers by year-end to furnish new capacity for the company’s brokerage and dedicated divisions.
