I-405 lanes in Los Angeles closed again

Lanes of the busy 405 Freeway in West Los Angeles will be closed for six nights starting March 2 for the ongoing reconstruction of the Mulholland Drive bridge.

Friday and Saturday nights, northbound lanes of I-405 between Getty Center Drive and the U.S. 101 freeway (Ventura Boulevard) will be closed starting at 10 p.m. and running until 5 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

On Monday and Tuesday nights, March 5-6, southbound lanes of I-405 will be closed in the same area beginning at 10 p.m. each night until 5 a.m.

Southbound lanes again will be closed March 12-13 starting at 10 p.m.

Workers will be installing temporary girder plates above each bridge span to support the structure during reconstruction. The work is part of a $1-billion 405 Freeway project that was started last July. That two-day closure spawned the so-called “Carmageddon” of congested roadways that never materialized.
