I-80 rest area in Nebraska to be closed

The Goehner rest area on westbound I-80 in Nebraska will be closed May 9 due to construction activity at the facility, the Nebraska Department of Roads said.

Paving is scheduled to begin for new truck parking at the rest area at mile marker 375.6. Work is anticipated to be completed by early June.

Alternate westbound rest area locations are Melia Hill at mile marker 431.4 and York at mile marker 355.4.

After the truck was retired about three years ago, owner Joel Anker had it rebuilt into a show truck. The hard work paid off, with a fifth-place finish in the Limited Mileage -- Bobtail with Miles class at MATS in March.
