Dennis Menaced On Rumored DVD
“Reports have it that a certain dangerous-looking semi tractor-trailer has been spotted around an unmarked building in Burbank,” reports Spielbergfilms.com, commenting on a suspected DVD release of Duel. The website’s news section says “rumor from the studio is saying that they plan to do something special with the film’s DVD release – allegedly one of the reasons the title was delayed for a third time last year.” The 1971 film, in which four-wheeler Dennis Weaver is terrorized by a murderous big rig, helped establish director Steven Spielberg, who soon after directed Jaws.
Dognapper Caught Red-Handed
It’s bad enough having your truck stolen, but when your dog’s inside – well, that’s a bit too much. That’s exactly what happened to Virginia trucker Denise Shields, whose 15-month-old pup went missing for more than a month after a trucker she hired disappeared with her tractor-trailer and pit bull, Red, while she was away, reports The (Nashville) Tennessean.
“It was like losing a member of the family,” Shields said. Her trailer soon turned up in Kingsport, Tenn., but it was weeks before the driver was arrested by Idaho State Police. Humane Society members in Idaho Falls were kind enough to board Red on a flight home to Shields.
