SINGING ON THE EDGE

Million-miler and 10-year trucking veteran GM Paterson’s debut CD, Overdrive, clearly comes from someone who’s spent time behind the wheel.

“Most of the songs relate to my life on the road and my observations,” says Paterson, who performed at Overdrive magazine’s Pride & Polish truck show at the Great American Trucking Show. “And they’re songs you can listen to while rolling down the road in overdrive.”

Paterson calls his high-energy sound and catchy lyrics “country with a rock edge.” Raised in Sadbury, Ontario, he was inspired by his mother’s idol, Elvis Presley, along with Tim McGraw, George Strait, Alan Jackson, Aerosmith and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

IF IT MEOWS, A TRUCK BROUGHT IT

Mary Alice Flores arrived three hours early to be first in line at the animal shelter. “I had to have it just because of the fact it’s Siamese and of course because it rode 400 miles,” she told The Sedalia Democrat.. “That’s actually a miracle, and the fact I got here and there wasn’t anyone else, I know this cat’s meant for me.”

TOOLS OF THE TRADE
