LIZARD CHASERS’ SPECIAL ALBUM

Troopers and police in central Pennsylvania’s West Hanover Township know about the prostitution problem at the Gables truck stop. In fact, they know it so well that the state police keep a thick binder with information and Polaroids of about 45 regular sex vendors, reports The Patriot-News in a lengthy story about lot lizards.

Even though the women often get arrested, they don’t necessarily hold hard feelings for the men behind the badge. For example, many smile for their instant photos. One even autographed her picture, says the newspaper. “To Officer Kevin,” she wrote. “From the Famous Vampire Slayer, Buffie.”

A LITTLE HALLOWEEN MONKEY BUSINESS

When trucker Ray Waggener pulled up next to a parked tractor-trailer in Kansas City, Kan., in late October he was impressed with the monkey costume of someone in the passenger seat. “I said, well, ‘How you doin’ there, bud?’ I thought (it was) some idiot (dressed up) … for Halloween,” Waggener said. He finally called police after realizing that the primate, which began to shake the truck, was not of the human variety, reported local stations KCTV 5 and KMBC-TV.

It turned out that trucker Mark Archigo had ridden with the chimpanzee for years, said his team driver John Williams. “Her name’s Suko, and she’s 12 years old,” Williams said. ‘She’s just like us. She’s a human being, you know?”

An animal control specialist was called out to transport the chimp to a primate refuge, the stations reported. Archigo faced animal cruelty and neglect charges.

GOSH, DID I FORGET TO LOG THAT STOP?

Some truckers who stop at After Dark Video in Wilson, Kan., are getting an unsolicited record of their visit to the store, which sells adult-oriented videos and related materials. A local group trying to force the store out of business is taking notes about the trucks and forwarding them to the carriers in hopes that they will encourage their drivers to stay away, reports the Lawrence Journal World. Carriers’ response has been “positive,” the newspaper reports.

THIS CAT’S NOT YELLOW

“You’re sort of gobsmacked when you see the thing.”
