CUSTOMERS GIVE ALEXANDER’S DRIVERS TOP MARKS

Alexander’s Moving & Storage, Tustin, Calif., recognized 72 drivers who received a perfect customer-service rating in the past year.

Of those, 40 were repeat winners, and one, owner-operator Keith Loterbauer, based in Hayward, Calif., won the award for the seventh straight year.

Alexander’s also recognized 38 drivers with less than $50 in claims per 10,000 pounds hauled for the year. The new record was set by short-haul driver James Chester, based in Nashville, Tenn., who had no claims.

Second in the long-haul category was owner-operator Brian Hansel, based in Baltimore, with $10.74 in claims per 10,000 pounds. Hansel also received a perfect customer-service rating for the second year in a row.



ABF, SITTON, PRIME WIN AWARDS

ABF Freight System, Cheyenne, Wyo., received the Wyoming Trucking Association’s Best Overall award in the annual fleet safety contest.

Sitton Motor Lines, Joplin, Mo., received the 2001 Safety Award Honorable Mention in the more than 5 million safe miles division from the Missouri Motor Carriers Association.

Prime Inc., Springfield, Mo., was awarded the Carrier of the Year Award 2001 from Owens Corning/Cultured Stone.


AWARDS & RECOGNITION

Paschall Truck Lines, Murray, Ky., announced its recent drivers of the month: Eugene Heid of Chaparrah, N.M., October; Robert Beebe of Murray, Ky., November; and Loyd Reynolds of Brookport, Ill., December.

Prime, Springfield, Mo., announced February contractors of the month: Robert “Bob” Conger, refrigerated; Michael “Mike” Nelson, tanker; Andre Green, flatbed; Eric Dowell, Wil-Trans.

CFI chose David and Shirley Schrader as Contractor Team of the Month and Will Colon as Contractor of the Month for March. April Drivers of the Month were Arturo Grado, Contractor of the Month, and Fred and Louis Spires, Contractor Team of the Month.

Dart Transit, Dallas, selected John Cooksey as Contractor of the Year for 2002. Cooksey is an 11-year veteran of the Dart system. He has more than 1 million accident-free miles with Dart.

CRST Van Expedited, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, named Brian Ehrenberger and Diane Redden Owner-Operators of the Year for 2001 at its driver awards banquet in May. Vernon Camp, Raymond Newport, Lois Gooden, Ferenc Milisits and Wallie Phillips were inducted into the Million Mile Club, and Terry Simeons and Donovan Webber received a 2 Million Mile Award.

East West Motor Express, Rapid City, S.D., a subsidiary of Smithway Motor Express, awarded Jerry Henrichsen and Kelly Evans as Owner-Operators of the Year for 2001; Steve and Diane Clifford as Owner-Operator Team of the Year; and Ron and Ella Wilcox, who drive for an East West contractor, as Owner-Operator Team Drivers of the Year. Six drivers were recognized for achieving 2 million safe miles, and 17 drivers were recognized for reaching 1 million safe miles.

Werner Enterprises recognized eight drivers, including owner-operators Al Butler and Jeffrey Ruchti, for reaching 1 million accident-free miles.

Fortune Xpress, owned by Annett Holdings, honored David Lachniet as its Owner-Operator of the Year 2001 and owner-operators Martin Arthur and Kevin Davis with the Owner-Operator of the Third and Fourth Quarters for 2001 respectively.
