Vocational low cabover truck
Navistar has plans for an International low cabover vocational truck based on an existing American LaFrance LCOE platform. Enhancements include changes in the chassis and integration of Navistar’s MaxxForce engines to meet EPA 2010 emissions requirements. These changes will make the truck the only LCOE chassis on the market without a urea-based selective catalytic reduction emissions system, the company says. The initial product will be available in waste and construction segments with future products planned for other vocational markets. The American LaFrance Summerville, S.C., facility will be the manufacturing hub for the new products.

Ultra-long-life LED headlamp
Truck-Lite’s new 7-in. round LED headlamp, now available in 12-volt, is being marketed for heavy-duty and medium-duty commercial trucks. Each headlamp costs $350, but the company says each lamp offers as much as 50 times longer life than comparable incandescent lights. The headlamps feature solid-state circuit board assemblies designed to resist shocks and vibration, hard-coated polycarbonate lenses and die-cast anodized aluminum casing. The LED headlamps are built to replace standard 7-in. round headlights within 12-volt applications and meet or exceed U.S. Department of Transportation regulations regarding headlights, the company says.
Continental Tire North America’s newest over-the-highway long-haul drive tire, the HDL2 DL, features Continental’s deepest truck tire tread, at 32/32 in. The tire’s closed shoulder tread design provides traction in wet and dry conditions and resists irregular wear. An innovative lug angle provides traction throughout the life of the original tire, and a wider casing increases handling stability. The company’s patented groove technology is designed to reduce stone retention and casing penetrations. The HDL2 DL is offered in 11R22.5; 275/80R22.5; 11R24.5; and 285/75R24.5.

Housed in a polymer, the 75920 Master Battery Disconnect Switch cuts off all battery power from a vehicle’s electrical system and has an emergency power cutoff. It has amperage capacity of 300A at 12V DC and fits the standard Master Disconnect Switch mounting pattern.
Low profile solid-state warning light
Truck-Lite has added a low profile LED Solid-State Warning (SWL) light. It meets or exceeds SAE Warning Lamp Standard J845 Class 1 legal functions at 12 volts to 16 volts and is operational down to 8 volts, at temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees. All optics are internal, and each light operates with peak current of 3 amps to flash its 18 light-emitting diodes. The SWL can be wired to provide dual or quad flash patterns. Options include a yellow (amber) lens or a clear lens with yellow LEDs.
New drive tire
Toyo Tires’ M647 premium drive tire is designed for local, regional and highway hauls. It has a 30/32-in. tread and is designed with Toyo’s e-balance technology. Traction is maintained over the life of the tread, the company says, because of deep slits that are equal to the main groove depth.
