Timeless classic
This 1965 Peterbilt 351 was rebuilt by Jim Griffin, who owns Griffin Trucking of Dallas. It has a 275-inch wheelbase, an NTA 380 Cummins and a 13-speed Eaton Fuller transmission. Griffin has been in trucking for 30 years and says he enjoys every part of rebuilding old trucks, including painting.

Road hauler
This 2000 Kenworth W900L is powered by a 550-hp Caterpillar and geared through an 18-speed transmission. Owner Jake Bagdoian of Methuen, Mass., says the metallic wine truck is equipped with every available option. It hauls asphalt and sand.

Practical beauty
Ricky and Sissy Thompson of Mechanicsville, Md., drive this 1996 Peterbilt 379 triaxle. It’s equipped with a 425-hp Caterpillar and an 18-speed Eaton Fuller transmission. Ricky, a 10-year trucking veteran, hauls sand, gravel and dirt for J.R.’s Trucking. During the harsh Maryland winters, he plows snow and spreads salt on icy roads. The truck has won eight trophies at competitions in the past two years.
