Trucker James Peterson, 57, of Wisconsin was on a run from New Jersey bound for La Crosse, Wis., according to press reports, when he suffered an apparent heart attack at the Love’s Travel Stops location in Mifflinville, Pa., and passed away last week. His ridealong companion, reported to be a black Lab, was found dead beside him, apparently succumbing to recent hot and humid temperatures in the area.

After reports surfaced last week of Peterson’s apparent disappearance, the Press-Enterprise of Bloomsburg, Pa., reported (subscription required to read),  another trucker who’d read about him made the discovery of Peterson’s truck Monday.

A source familiar with the situation stated that Mr. Peterson had suffered from COPD and was under a doctor’s care. He had been missing for three days when found.
