More photos: Mel Davis’ custom Freightliner

2Following my post from three weeks back now about Michigan-based owner-operator Melvin Davis and his extra-long 1988 FLD reefer hauler with the early-80s vintage hood, Davis made his round down to Texas, over to Florida and back up toward his home base in Michigan, which put him through my home base in Nashville last week Tuesday. A cold morning, for certain, but picturesque in all other aspects, which made for great picture-taking opportunity, well evidenced by the beauty shot you see here.

It’s a great rig — the interior spacious and functional with all the amenities you could want. You’ll recall Davis built the bunk by combining two others, which he’s also doing now with a project 2000 Freightliner Classic as well. In any case, enjoy the pictures from last week’s shoot below.
