A new mobile app aims to help truck drivers involved in a crash to file their accident report.

The Accident Plan app first asks a driver if he or she is involved in an accident, and if so, it then notifies any supervisors listed on the driver’s account. It then asks a series of questions to find out the severity of the accident and if the driver has called 911.

After the driver alerts authorities of an accident, the app gives the driver instructions on how to secure the accident scene, cooperate with police, take photographs of the accident and gather other data. Once all of this is complete, Accident Plan compiles the information into an accident report.

“The motor carrier has long held the disadvantage when it comes to crash defense,” says Brendan Dawson, founder and CEO of Accident Plan.  “That’s due, at least in part, to the driver not having proper tools and training with which to adequately handle a stressful crash scene event.”

A subscription to the service is $25 per driver per year. An example of the full accident report the app creates can be seen here. The app is available on both iPhone and Android.
