The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s first listening session on the New Entrant testing rule it’s required by the MAP-21 highway bill to complete will be webcast via this page, where you can register for it by providing your name and a valid email address.

As was reported last week, the rule seeks to put in place a “written exam to test motor carrier applicants for proficient knowledge of safety regulations, standards and orders of the Federal government.”

In addition to the listening session, the agency has opened a comment period on the rule, requesting points of view from the industry on a host of particular items relative to what the test should include and more. Find a list of specific questions here.

You can give feedback to FMCSA from off-site by going to regulations.gov and using Docket ID FMCSA-2001-11061.

Comments can also be mailed to the Docket Management Facility, U.S. Department of Transportation, 1200 New Jersey Ave. SE, West Building Ground Floor, Room W12-140, Washington, D.C., 20590. Comments can also be hand delivered to the same address.

Comments can also be faxed to 202-493-2251.

The January 13 listening session will be held at the American Bus Association’s Marketplace conference at the Music City Center, 201 Fifth Ave. South, Nashville, Tenn., in Room 202 C from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
