The 123Loadboard freight matching marketplace has stepped up its “continued commitment to support technology designed to help truckers deliver their loads safely,” the company says, with a continuing commitment to the new Vigo device. 123Loadboard Vice President Loarn Metzen notes the company “jumped at the opportunity to support Vigo and the continued research and development of new products for the trucking industry.”

Vigo is a bluetooth headset with standard talk functionality that is also designed to analyze blink patterns and head movements to monitor alertness levels and then prompt the trucker to take action when drowsy and in need of a break. Prompts are personalized and can take the form of music, sharp tones, blinking lights or vibrations.

The load board’s announcement comes on the heels of the first shipments of the Vigo device going out to backers after a successful funding campaign on Kickstarter.com that raised nearly $60,000 to make the device a reality.

123Loadboard was among the backers, the company says. “A device like Vigo measures the driver’s alertness level and sends a prompt to take a break, thereby helping to improve trucker safety.”

Depending on how truckers respond to the device, 123Loadboard “might consider offering it as a load board subscription incentive” in the future.
