While many truck hoods weigh as much as 300 pounds, the HoodXpress opens and closes hoods with the touch of a key fob. It is available for most Peterbilt models. Carrier’s multi-temperature reefer engine, Vector 1800MT, runs on diesel power or electric standby power. The hybrid offers 30 percent lower maintenance costs, a thinner profile and reduced fuel consumption.
The unit can be plugged into standby power where available, thus reducing noise and emissions. It uses 19 pounds of refrigerant, down from the 32 pounds used by many of Carrier’s other reefers, and it uses one belt instead of four.
