Michelin’s new XDA5 tire promises extra-long tread life with minimal tread degradation. The drive tire maintains its wet traction characteristics through the appearance of extra grooves in the last third of its tread life. Double wave sipes with raindrop features are molded into the tread blocks and automatically create new, enlarged grooves as the tire wears. The double-wave shape of the sipe, creating tread blocks that fit like a three-dimensional jigsaw puzzle, ensures block rigidity to enhance wear performance and minimize irregular wear normally associated with deep tread designs. The XDA5 will be offered in 2007 in four sizes, 275/80R22.5, 11R22.5, 27580R/24.5 and 11R24.5.
