MELTON IMPROVES COMPENSATION PLANS
Under Melton Truck Lines’ improved programs, company drivers earn up to 40 cents per mile, plus one cent per mile for safe driving; owner-operators earn up to 92 cents per mile, plus $200 gift certificates for each quarter of safe driving. Owner-operators can also receive fuel adjustments up to 14 cents per mile, paid base plates, permits, tolls and scales, layover, and detention.


WERNER PARTNERS WITH TRIPPAK
Werner Enterprises has implemented TripPak Express, the drop-box network that provides daily document collection service at more than 1,500 truck stops, distribution centers and terminal facilities in North America. Werner is retiring its proprietary drop-box network.


MARTEN PURCHASE PROGRAM
Marten Transport now offers a program in which first-time buyers can own their own equipment with down payments as low as $1,000. The program features 24- and 36-month payoff options with no balloon payment, a two-year/200,000-mile warranty, and two years of free tax service.
Marten pays all license fees, including base plates, tolls and a fuel surcharge. The company files and pays state fuel and mileage tax returns. Marten says the total owner-operator compensation package is the equivalent of 94.5 cents per mile.


AWARDS & RECOGNITION

PRIME INC. recently awarded Woodrow Richardson with a leather jacket and a charter membership into Prime’s Millionaire Program. Drivers in the program have at least 15 years of service and have completed at least 2 million miles of safe driving with no preventable accidents.

CONTRACT FREIGHTERS INC. named its March 2004 driving awards: Contractor of the Month, Juan Rojas of Carrizo Springs, Texas; Contractor Team of the Month, Mac and Tracy McKeon of Ocala, Fla.; Company Driver of the Month, John Murray III of Jenks, Okla.; and Company Team Drivers of the Month, Dave Guffey and Peggy Davis of New Albany, Ind.

WHEATON WORLD WIDE MOVING honored eight Drivers of the Month for January and February. Alfred Burrell, of Indianapolis, and Butch Whitson, with Glenn Hunter Moving and Storage of Brisbane, Calif., each received a permanent fleet Driver of the Month award for January. Patrick Hawk, with Able Professional Movers, Omaha, Neb., and Bryant Lovell, of Bell Moving and Storage in Cincinnati, were selected as January’s Drivers of the Month from an intermittent fleet.

Dennis Tapscott, of Indianapolis, and Gregory Williams, with Sunset Moving and Storage in Key West, Fla., each received a permanent fleet Driver of the Month award for February. Kenneth Seibert with Queen Moving and Storage of Houston, and Robert Pritchard from Tide Moving and Storage in Theodore, Ala., were selected as February Drivers of the Month from an intermittent fleet.

MAVERICK TRANSPORTATION has announced its first-quarter Drivers of the Month: Roger Wyble of Beulah, Mo., January; Don Debnar of Cabot, Ark., February; and Bryce Jansen of Stigler, Okla., March.
