KENNESAW’S NEW LEASE-PURCHASE PROGRAM
Under Kennesaw Transportation’s new lease-purchase program, a driver employed for 90 days can purchase a late-model tractor with some warranty left. To buy a new tractor, he must be with Kennesaw for six months.

WERNER PAY HIKE
Werner Enterprises Inc. increased its pay for company solo drivers in its medium-to-long-haul van division by 2 cents per mile.

U.S. XPRESS SIGN-ON BONUS
U.S. Xpress announced that solo and regional drivers can receive a $5,000 sign-on bonus in select Midwest locations.

Team drivers can live in any location and receive the bonus.

FUEL INCENTIVE PROGRAM
Barr-Nunn Transportation, an Iowa-based dry-van truckload carrier, has started a program that guarantees owner-operators, including new lease-purchase owners, will not pay more than 99 cents per gallon for fuel for the remainder of 2004.

The guarantee is made up of discounts, fuel surcharge and additional fuel cost reimbursements.

AWARDS & RECOGNITION
Doyle Hester, Jr. was recently named May Driver of the Month for Melton Truck Lines.

William “Bill” Koskovich, who was a driver for Smithway Motor Xpress, died in May. In his memory, Koskovich was named Smithway’s Driver of the Month for June 2004.
