CARRIERS ANNOUNCE PAY RAISES
Maverick Transportation’s new compensation plan pays 38 cents per mile for long-haul drivers and up to 37 cents per mile for regional drivers. Most divisions will receive an across-the-board increase of 2 cents per mile.

Maverick also plans to implement a new life insurance program.

McGriff Transportation is increasing base pay for company drivers by 2 cents per mile. For company drivers and owner-operators, McGriff will maintain a safety bonus of 1 cent per mile and, when drivers run 2,750 miles in a week, a productivity bonus of 2 cents per mile.

Owner-operators at Dart Transit will get pay increases of $2,400 to $4,200, effective in the first quarter of 2005. The raises are based on higher mileage rates and a fully paid base-plate package.


BARR-NUNN EXPANDS SERVICE AREA
Barr-Nunn Transportation now runs through the Midwest.

Company drivers and owner-operators running this division will receive weekly home time, short-haul pay and pay increases up to 1.5 cents per mile for every 120,000 safe miles driven. Owner-operators are guaranteed $1.04 per gallon diesel through June 2005.


NEW TERMINAL
Marten Transport opened a new terminal in Indianapolis. Marten also is adding more than 11,000 square feet to its corporate headquarters in Mondovi, Wis.


ROEHL EXTENDS INSURANCE TO CONTRACTORS
Roehl Transport owner-operators now can buy health and personal insurance under group rates. They can choose from several health packages with options for dental, vision and life insurance coverage.


SCHNEIDER OFFICES
Schneider National is opening brokerage offices in Toronto; Mexico City; Chesapeake, Va.; Columbus, Ohio; and Fort Lauderdale, Fla. These additions bring the total number of North American offices to 17.

CFI announced its Drivers of the Month for October: Michael Seifried of Norman, Okla., company driver; Larry Howell of Decatur, Texas, and Daia Elkins of Granbury, Texas, company team; Juan Rojas of Carrizo Springs, Texas, contractor driver; Michael Nieschalk of Ozark, Mo., and Kelly Morris of Scottsville, Va., contractor team.

MultiMedia’s Trucker Buddy Driver of the Month for November was Dan Green of Yuma, Ariz., a company driver for FFE.

Green receives a personalized jacket, $300 to spend on his class, $200 in Trucker Buddy merchandise, a Koolatron cooler and an Accident Photo Pak. The class receives a CrossCountry USA game from Ingenuity Works.

Trucker Buddy pairs more than 3,500 professional drivers with elementary school classes.

Paschall Truck Lines announced its Drivers of the Month for July: Richard Alstat, company driver, and Otis Hafley, owner-operator. Alstat has been with the company 11 years and has won this award five times. Hafley has been driving professionally for 19 years, the past five for PTL.
