DANNY HERMAN RAISES PAY FOR DRIVERS
Danny Herman Trucking announced a new pay plan in November, its third pay increase in 16 months.

Under the new pay plan, experienced drivers’ incentive pay can range from 2 to 8 cents per mile, depending on mileage. Owner-operators can earn 89 to 98 cents per mile, plus a 100 percent fuel surcharge; company drivers can earn 38 to 50 cents per mile.


C.R. ENGLAND ANNOUNCES NEW DIESEL FUEL CAP
Under C.R. England’s new fuel program, independent contractors pay only $1.25 per gallon nationwide, no matter the pump price.

The eligible fuel stops include England yards with fuel pumps, several truck stop chains and any location provided by the fuel optimizer for a given trip.


SITTON MOTOR LINES TO PAY PRACTICAL MILES
Sitton Motor Lines now pays all drivers and contractors on practical miles. The move will help drivers reach fuel and mileage bonuses more quickly, says the Joplin, Mo., carrier.


KENNESAW BONUSES
Twenty-two drivers received Kennesaw Transportation’s $10,000 Christmas bonus that goes to all company drivers with five years on the job. Seventy drivers have qualified in three years.


ARROW HONORS 22 AT MILLION MILE BANQUET
Arrow Trucking honored 22 of its drivers at a banquet. The 2005 honorees who drove 1 million miles are: Carl Adams, Mark Anderson, Daniel Armstrong, James Brinsfield, Michael Coger, William Currie, Brian Dever, Tomislav Dukic, Doug Freeman, Jack Griggs, Roger Keele, Jeffery Keen, Fred Kluthe, Ronald Kunce, Ronald Maxwell, Larry Miele, Larry Pryor, Joaquin Rueda, Jeff Steele and Stephen Stanley.

Reaching the 2 million mile mark were John Martin and Mike Savage.


GROUP HONORS HERO
The Ontario Trucking Association named owner-operator Mervin Connolly its 2005 Volvo Trucks Canada Driver of the Year.

Leased to L.E. Walker Transport, Connolly was honored for helping lift a vehicle off a trapped man and assisting another injured person after an accident near Windsor, Ontario.


TCA NAMES HIGHWAY ANGEL
The Truckload Carriers Association recently honored trucker Danny Wallen of Conover, Ohio, for risking his life to save a family involved in an automobile accident near Nashville. Wallen received a Highway Angel lapel pin for his efforts.


AWARDS & RECOGNITION
CONTRACT FREIGHTERS named its Drivers of the Month for September: Jose Herrera, company driver; James and Janiece Martindale, company team; Dennis Griffin, contractor; and John and Sherri Dillinger, contractor team.
