GREATWIDE INTRODUCES INSURANCE PROGRAM
Greatwide Logistics Services’ new insurance program for its owner-operators offers $1 million of lifetime medical coverage at what it says is half the cost of traditional major medical coverage.

The plan, offered through MetLife, is exclusive with Greatwide until year’s end. It includes preventive and supplemental health care benefits, dental insurance, 10-year term life insurance and disability income protection.

Through MetLife, Greatwide also will offer participants legal counseling, home and personal auto insurance, pet insurance, a Preferred Savings Plan and critical illness insurance.


McGRIFF ANNOUNCES NEW PAY PACKAGE
McGriff Transportation’s new owner-operator pay package eliminates all administrative fees while raising the base per-mile pay.

Additional benefits include one free truck wash per month, waived tag rental charges for drivers who have been accident-free for a year, and waived quarterly IFTA taxes for qualifying drivers.


BARR-NUNN LAUNCHES NEW PAY PROGRAM
Barr-Nunn Transportation now pays Northeast regional owner-operators a guaranteed $425 per day and a 100 percent fuel surcharge. The carrier also is offering payment of excess fuel taxes and guaranteed home time.

Barr-Nunn also has increased pay levels for owner-operators.


TANGO OPENS LOUISIANA WAREHOUSE
Tango Transport recently opened a service center in Coushatta, La., to support its nearby Weyerhaeuser contract operations.

The facility serves as a full-time drop yard with up to 600 outgoing weekly shipments. The site also features a customer service center, dispatch offices and a maintenance facility.


CON-WAY SUBSIDIARY WINS SAFETY AWARDS
Con-way less-than-truckload subsidiary Con-way Freight-Southern recently received the President’s Trophy from the American Trucking Associations for its low incidence of vehicle and employee accidents. The Fort Worth, Texas, company won the same award in 2002. The company also placed first in the General Commodities LTL/Local Division Over 100 Million Miles.
