JEVIC OPENS DETROIT FACILITY
Less-than-truckload provider Jevic Transportation has opened a new facility to serve the Detroit metro area.

Located on the Dix-Toledo Highway in Brownstown Township, the terminal is accessible from I-75. The facility sits on 16.5 acres and has 20 insulated doors on an 8,000-square-foot dock.

The company says the terminal was opened to meet demand for Jevic’s Breakbulk-Free Service, which minimizes transfers and favors “load-to-ride” deliveries.

ALL FREIGHT BOOSTS OWNER-OPERATOR PAY
All Freight Systems raised its owner-operator pay to $1 per mile, a 9-cent increase. The rate is paid on loaded and empty miles and includes a 100 percent fuel surcharge.

All Freight’s contractor package includes paid base plates, permits and bobtail insurance and reimbursement for tolls on company routes.

Based in Kansas City, Kan., All Freight also recently raised its customer rates.

GREATWIDE LAUNCHES LEASE PROGRAM
Greatwide Logistics Services launched Greatstart, a program designed to help company drivers become owner-operators.

Program participants acquire equity in the truck during the course of the lease. Contractors then become owners by paying off or financing the balance of the note at the end of the term.

TRANSPORT AMERICA RENOVATES OHIO SUPPORT CENTER
Transport America completed renovations at its North Jackson, Ohio, support center. The terminal now can house more than 200 drivers and includes improved showers, private lavatories and laundry facilities.

Additions include a driver recreation room with a 42-inch plasma television and a new wing of office space for support center personnel.

Transport America nearly doubled the facility’s parking capacity to accommodate 140 trailers and up to 100 tractors.
