Schneider National and Con-way Freight have inked deals with the U.S. military to boost recruitment of active and former service personnel. In conjunction with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Schneider will help veterans become owner-operators; G.I. Bill benefits can be used to cover the cost of job training. Con-way and the U.S. Army Reserve jointly will recruit and train personnel interested in both the military and the trucking industry; Army Reserve soldiers will be provided job opportunities with Con-way Freight once they successfully complete their military training.

Owner-operators who sign with deBoer Transportation can now earn up to 94 cents per mile, in addition to a home-time and benefits package, the company says
