STAR ACQUIRES MISSISSIPPI FAST FREIGHT

Star Transportation of Nashville, Tenn., recently acquired Mississippi Fast Freight Co. of Flowood, Miss. Mississippi Fast Freight, founded in 1986, operates 80 units, hauling general commodities and specializing in just-in-time loads. Star will operate Mississippi Fast Freight as a separate division.


CRST ADDS CONTRACTOR INCENTIVE PROGRAM

CRST International has added a discount on tractor-trailer washes to its Gold PIN Club, an independent contractor program launched last year. Participants can benefit from savings on fuel, tires and labor.


Heartland ranked in Forbes list
Heartland Express of Iowa was ranked as one of the 200 Best Small Companies in the annual Forbes list in the Oct. 28 issue. Heartland Express was No. 154 on the list.


CON-WAY GETS TECH AWARD

Con-Way Transportation Services is a recipient of the CIO-100 award from IDG’s CIO magazine. The award recognizes organizations for their use of integrated processes and technologies.

Con-Way was recognized for three information technology initiatives: a data warehouse, a customer relations application and a portal for employees to access applications.


AWARDS & RECOGNITION

National Carriers named Dale Ramsey the July 2002 Driver of the Month. The 67-year-old Eufaula, Okla., owner-operator has been with National Carriers for 22 years. His wife of 48 years, Annetta, is a former million-miler with National Carriers and now runs a business in Eufaula.
