In the video above, take a quick run through Scott Treadway’s involvement in the Jupiter Motorsports team, with four trucks running in the Minimizer Bandit Big Rig Racing series this year. I talked briefly with Treadway ahead of the Highland Rim race outside Nashville two weekends back. The North Carolina resident owner-operator ran in a “hobby stock” local series in Newport, Tenn., for years, he says, winning the points championship there in 2010. He races behind the wheel of the oldest model year truck in the series, a 1979 Western Star racer Jupiter bought from another builder.

And as for trucking, Treadway bought his 2007 Peterbilt 379 — with which he pulls a dump trailer — a few years back now, after working as a company hauler for Allen Boles’ Jupiter small fleet, running sand, coal and other commodities typically, for more than a decade.

Treadway finished third and fifth, respectively, in his first two heats at Highland Rim, then closer to the back of the running order for the final race. He did finish, however — the same can’t be said for four of the other runners in the race that night. Catch a few more views from the action in the vid up top.

The next Bandit race is set for this weekend in Iowa.
