Two members of legendary rock group Bachman-Turner-Overdrive from Winnipeg, Manitoba, have reunited after a five-year hiatus and are touring and collaborating on new songs. The iconic musicians, who renamed their group when they saw Overdrive magazines at a Canadian truck stop in 1973, were featured in the August 1975 issue, details of which are at OverdriveRetro.
Randy Bachman and Fred Turner will headline the Pepsi Max half-time show of the Canadian Football League’s 98th Grey Cup Nov. 28 in Edmonton, Canada. “It’s been like putting on a pair of old slippers, the transition has been so smooth,” Turner told the league’s website, Grey Cup.
The original group was renowned by the mid ’70s for hits such as “Takin’ Care of Business,” “Roll on down the Highway,” “Free Wheelin” and “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet.” Several of the still-popular classics were released in early November on Universal Music Enterprises Icon compilations in a package for sale through iTunes.
In June, the duo Bachman & Turner made its debut at the Sweden Rock Festival, where Aerosmith, Guns N/Roses and Billy Idol performed. Musicians Brent Howard, Marc LaFrance and Mick Dalla-Vee are part of the new group which is performing primarily in Canada and the United Kingdom.
