Season in dignitary visits on both coasts, too, as it were, as shown in the tweet from this morning above, when express lane closures on I-5 in Seattle during the morning rush hour to hasten Chinese President Xi’s motorcade trip to the airport caused gridlock.

With the Pope’s departure from D.C. en route to New York City today, too, blessings for I-95 were hoped for, not that they might be quite as effective as his departure from the region around the nation’s, other reports suggested.

Below, a few more updates on coming lane closures around the country:

Ohio
Beginning in the wee hours of Saturday this weekend, September 26, “commercial production work,” says the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Cincinnati division, will require closure of the ramp from southbound I-75 to Second Street in the city 3-11 a.m. “In the event of rain,” ODOT, says, the “ramp will be closed during the same timeframe Sunday, Sept. 27.”

Nevada
In an effort to give a major upgrade to heavily-traveled Stephanie Street in Henderson, Nev., U.S. 95 north- and southbound lanes will see alternating closures during overnight hours from September 28-October 1, the Nevada Department of Transportation announced.

NB lanes of U.S. 95 will be closed on Sept. 28 and 29 starting at 9 p.m. and reopening the following morning by 5 a.m. Travelers will be detoured around the construction by exiting at Galleria Drive and returning to the highway using Russell Road.

SB lanes of U.S. 95 will be closed on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 starting on a similar schedule. The marked detour will direct an exit at Russell Road and return to U.S. 95 from Galleria Drive.

The $18.5 million Stephanie Street Roadway and Bridge project will have the steel girders put in place for the bridge spanning the U.S. 95 during the work. The project is scheduled to be completed in April 2016 and includes a new two-lane bridge on Stephanie Street over U.S. 95.

Texas
Eastbound I-20 Texas, from milemarker 419-421, will see the left lane closed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, weather permitting, from Sept. 29-Oct. 2, the Texas Department of Transportation announced with an advisement to expect some delays.
