You’ve no doubt heard about Comprehensive Safety Analysis 2010. It’s the huge safety enforcement program being tested in nine states, set to start for carriers in all states in July.
Since we in the trucking trade press are learning all we can about CSA 2010, some of us logged in to a recent webcast about it, courtesy of its parent, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
It was informative, yes. But it also assaulted listeners with more acronyms per square inch than is legal under EPA or OSHA regs. We were introduced to BASIC, PSP, DIR, CSP, NOV, NOC, OOS, SEA, NAS, SMS, SFD, SaDIP, SSDQ and dataQ.
Not so pleased to meet you. My theory is that the complexity of federal programs is directly proportional to such alphabet abuse. Go to the CSA 2010 website , which might still be out of service, and judge for yourself.
