Pana-Pacific offers home-comfort on the road

A trucker’s life on the road rarely allows for the comforts of home. After long, tough hours and deadlines that don’t stop at 5 o’clock, drivers deserve the best in entertainment when they kick off their boots at the end of the day.

Thanks to quick, efficient service by Pana-Pacific Corporation, drivers now have the opportunity to live like kings in their own cabs.

Carrying on a tradition that started more than 20 years ago, Pana-Pacific provides nearly 3,000 appliances and peripheral products to approximately 2,200 dealers nationwide. Pana-Pacific has a solid reputation for being a no-hassle, no-waiting supplier, offering excellent warranty and technology-support programs.

The company’s latest product releases include the new Panasonic flat-panel television.

“The Flat Panel TV has a progressive-scan feature that provides a much higher-quality picture,” says Colin Kemlo, product specialist for Pana-Pacific. “It has stereo speakers built into the front.” Kemlo says. “There are inputs for video games and VCRs. Anything with a standard RCA video output will plug into it.”

The TV comes in 15-inch and 22-inch models, with mounting kits suitable for any truck cab. According to Kemlo, the 2 1/2-inch-thick screen frees more room in the sleeper than drivers may realize. “I’ve seen drivers with a 20-inch TV in their sleeper, and there’s barely any room left for them,” he says.

The device also has a built-in 181-channel tuner. Wherever drivers are, they can get local television stations with or without a satellite dish.

Another of Pana-Pacific’s new offerings is the Panasonic DVR909 DVD player, the first entertainment system of its kind. Other devices may be similar, but none can match the entire DVR909 audio/visual package.

The DVR909 plays CDs, has a built-in AM/FM radio, and plays DVD movies and audio discs. Kemlo says the sound quality is clean and clear, almost like listening to surround sound at the movies.

“All the outputs are on the radio,” he explains. “So if drivers want to get into a full-blown surround-sound system, they can add the amplifiers and have all five channels of the regular audio plus sub-woofer coming out of the radio. Aside from the unmatched audio quality of this system, the amazing thing is that everything is one unit and will fit into any dashboard of any truck.”

Another recent addition to the Pana-Pacific offering is the Panasonic NRA4UT1K mobile refrigerator designed especially for use in the heavy-duty truck. The best feature of this reliable unit is that it is cooled by a heat exchange system. There is no compressor or other moving parts that can be damaged by the vibration of rough and rugged roads. Panasonic has designed this refrigerator to conserve truck batteries. Unlike other units that draw a higher level of power at all times, this refrigerator will reduce power consumption once its contents are cooled. The driver doesn’t need to worry about this refrigerator contributing to dead batteries, either. The NRA4UT1K will disconnect itself if the battery voltage gets low.
