Pennsylvania state troopers placed 21 trucks and 20 drivers out of service during a five-day enforcement blitz of trucks in November, and plan similar inspection events next year.
Troopers inspected 495 trucks and issued 801 traffic citations Nov. 21-25. The officers stopped trucks for vehicle code violations and conducted roadside vehicle inspections and checked drivers’ required documentation, said Commissioner Frank Pawlowski.
“Many crashes involving commercial vehicles are the result of traffic violations such as speeding, unsafe lane changes or following too closely,” he said.
The enforcement was conducted under the Commercial Motor Vehicle Traffic Enforcement and Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program detail, or T.E.A.M.
