Peterbilt dealers support safety program

| August 15, 2011

Peterbilt dealers in Sioux City, Council Bluffs, Des Moines, Iowa, and Norfolk, Neb., are supporting the “Buckle Up In Your Truck safety campaign of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

More than 500 truck drivers/truck passengers were killed and 17,000 injured during 296,000 traffic mishaps in 2009, the latest data available from the NHTSA Traffic Safety Facts — Large U.S. Trucks.

“Our four Peterbilt locations are spreading the seat belt message to their truck-driving customers,” said Peterbilt group Marketing Manager Tom Schoening.

After a service, Peterbilt service technicians will attach a card to the turn signal lever with the safety message. The card includes a $25 off coupon on the truck’s next service when the driver returns safely.

The parts staff will give a free emergency seatbelt cutter to qualifying customers. The seatbelt cutter, similar to a large envelope slitter, clips to your sun visor for emergency use. The Peterbilt parts stores in the four cities will have information about how to receive a seatbelt cutter.
