Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administrator Anne Ferro yesterday announced the two winners of this year’s “Be Ready, Be Buckled” Safety Belt Student Art Contest. Regular readers of the Channel 19 blog will remember this post about last year’s contest.

Second grader Sophia Chen from Edison, N.J., and fifth grader Richard He from Parsippany in the same state were recognized at a ceremony at the U.S. Department of Transportation building in Washington, D.C. Each won top honors for their illustrations stressing the importance of commercial truck and bus drivers using safety belts. In addition to the two winners, ten other talented students were acknowledged during the ceremony for their participation in the contest.

Find Chen’s Kindergarten-2nd grade class winning art below, followed by He’s 3rd-6th grade class winner. Not bad, eh?
