International Truck and Engine has introduced its first regional-haul vehicle that exclusively offers an International engine.
“Regional haulers will see the difference on their bottom lines, drivers will feel the difference in the smooth, powerful ride, and service technicians can bank on easier serviceability,” says Steve Keate, president of International’s truck group.
Production of the 8500, which replaces the International 8100, began in October. The company introduced the truck and the International 7000 Series, for the construction and waste industries, in November in Garland, Texas.
International says the 8500 offers cab enhancements that will improve driver productivity and lower costs. The vehicle has simpler wiring, more payload capacity and a tighter turning radius because of a 50-degree wheel-cut. The 8500 is available only in tractor configurations.
