Psst … Brad James is famous, pass it on …

This here’s a story about Billy Jo and Bobby Sue.

No it’s not. It’s a story about Brad James, but I always think of music when I think of Brad James, so I was grooving on some Steve Miller Band in my head, getting loosened up for this piece. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it.

So, what happens when a City Mouse, a Country Mouse and Brad James walk into a bar?

I’m not sure, because it hasn’t happened (that I know of, Brad may be holding out on details), but he did get a chance to do some filming with the newest version of a City/Country television dynamic duo, Ben Aaron and Kellie Pickler, and he will be appearing on the Oct. 25 episode of “Pickler and Ben,” airing on CMT in various local markets.

The hour-long program features Kellie Pickler, a North Carolina native and fifth-season American Idol favorite, and her co-host, Ben Aaron, a journalist born and raised in New York, as they highlight daily stories about famous people, cooking, decorating tips and inspiring narratives about regular folks doing exceptional things with their lives.

The first episode aired Sept. 18, but Brad was contacted way back in February, to help with the pilot version. Come March, he found himself in Nashville, with Kellie Pickler riding shotgun in his big truck, shooting a ride-along segment that was used in the successful pilot, and the “Pickler and Ben” show went into official production this past summer, under the watchful eye of executive producer Faith Hill.

The success of the pilot, and the fact that it hadn’t aired to a public market, compelled producers to contact Brad for a follow-up appearance on the series version, but scheduling difficulties made it impossible for everyone to get together in Nashville, so they did a Skype interview, and are using footage from the pilot ride-along and the recent Skype interview for the Oct. 25 episode. (How’s that for some time-traveling?)

I’d love to give you a sneak-peek at what they talk about in the segment, but not even Brad can tell you that. It’s not a secret, he just doesn’t know. There was a lot of footage, and the filming was done a while ago, so it will be as much a surprise to him as it is to everyone else. I’d be willing to bet they at least mention his huge fan base and that he may or may not sing a little, in addition to driving a big truck.

Just in case they don’t mention it, Brad’s new CD, “My Lonesome Road,” is available on his website, and he’s already booked as entertainment for the Feb. 2018 “Truckers Gone Wild” Caribbean Cruise. Pretty impressive for a guy who still doesn’t have a publicist, and keeps a regular over-the-road trucking job, ain’t it? Congratulations, Brad. That’s pretty cool stuff.

Editor’s note: Brad will also be performing live for the Truckers for Humanity online concert at TFM’s Facebook page Oct. 21 — proceeds from that benefit TruckersFinalMile.org. More information via the link below:
