Rand McNally debuts system

Rand McNally unveiled a new navigation system today, Aug. 20, that is designed for truck drivers.

According to the company, the IntelliRoute TND 500 has 35 percent more truck-attributed roads than any other data provider and nearly 13,000 truck-related, geo-coded points of interest. This includes a national truck stop directory that provides more than 50 searchable amenities for each location, such as the presence of a CAT Scale, as well as truck dealer locations.

“We believe, through our research, truckers need more than GPS,” said Rand McNally marketing spokesperson Amy Krouse. “This GPS with Trucker Business Tools helps save time, miles and money.”

The device calculates a route based on vehicle length, width and height, as well as type of route — quickest or shortest, tolls or no tolls. A route can be optimized for multiple stops for the most efficient use of miles and fuel expenses, then provided to the trucker via turn-by-turn spoken directions.

Trucker Business Tools features include:

  • State/province mileage breakdown — Tracks miles driven in every U.S. state or Canadian province for organized bookkeeping and fuel-tax reporting.
  • Commercial-grade address book — Organizes thousands of entries and searches addresses by company, state and more.
  • Quick planner — Determines profitability and drive time for an upcoming route.
  • Smart time — Patented feature that calculates the time of arrival at the destination keeping time zones in mind.
  • Rand McNally’s Motor Carriers’ Road Atlas — Cross-references to the page and grid for review of key resource information.
  • Timers and logs — Calculates and monitors driving time and time on-duty.
  • Calculator and converter buttons – Big-screen calculator enables quick math calculations and conversions in either standard or metric units. It will be available in October in truck stops, dealers and online at www.randmcnally.com/truckgps for $499.

The company is at Booth #13111 at GATS.
