Regional steer tires approved in SmartWay program

All Continental regional steer tires have been certified as a SmartWay partner by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Fort Mill, S.C.-based tire maker announced.
The HSR2, HSR1 and HSR tires were recently approved in the government program as having low rolling resistance The HSR2 features a 23/32-in. deep improved cut and chip resistant tread compound, patented groove geometry, a protective curb rib and the VAI + system of visual alignment and tread depth indicators. HSR1, also in the regional tire family, features reduced noise and wet traction. The HSR is a previous generation tire.
