Recently my husband, a 25-year veteran of the trucking industry, passed away. He died from pneumonia that developed from a flu he picked up heading from Indiana to Texas. After notifying hisbuddies of his passing, I was shocked and very pleased that several of them deadheaded to be at his memorial service. At the service I had his truck, with a wreath on it, parked next to the front door of the funeral home. The other drivers lined their trucks up next to his. At the end of the service the drivers blew their horns into the air as a final farewell.
Several months later, these guys are still in touch with me, calling or coming by just to say hi and see how I’m doing.
Daily Express, Packard Transportation and Lone Star should be proud of their drivers. These guys form a caring bond with the other truckers and their families.

DIVIDED, WE FAIL?
There is a mistake in “Winds of Change” in the June issue. If you divide 100,000 miles by 6.9, it equals 14,493 gallons of fuel used, not 15,152. That yields a total annual savings (with your $2.25 fuel price) of $4,891.50, not $3,409.
