Schneider National Named to Best Fleets to Drive For

Choosing the Best Fleet for You –

Driving a truck for a living is hard work, but sometimes the hardest part of the job is figuring out which company is the right fleet for you. Every single one is telling you they’re the best carrier out there, but how do you know which truly are the cream of the crop…and which ones are just blowing smoke?

Recently, the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) released its Best Fleets to Drive For list, which was comprised of 20 carriers operating in the United States and Canada. These carriers were nominated by a driver and then evaluated against the TCA’s criteria to determine the effectiveness of their driving programs. (See sidebar for specific attributes judged.)

Schneider National, one of the nation’s largest truckload carriers, was named to this prestigious list for the second year in a row. But even a list like this doesn’t necessarily help drivers decide which fleet is right for them. The best thing to do is research various companies so you can get to know who they are, what they stand for and how they help drivers succeed.

With Schneider, that can all be wrapped up in one word: SIRE. SIRE is the easy way to remember Schneider’s core values — the bedrock and foundation of the company since its very beginnings over 75 years ago.

SAFETY: Schneider’s #1 core value has always been: “Safety first and always.” And they mean it. Schneider’s safety training and programs are second to none. Plus, they invest in the latest technologies and equipment to ensure their drivers, tractors and trailers get where they are going each and every time. It is no surprise that Schneider was compliant in all BASICs in the CSA review.

INTEGRITY: Schneider has had a strong freight base for over 75 years, so when they promise to get you miles — they’ll do it. When they say they’ll get you home, they’ll do it. Bottom line: They do what they say they’re going to do.

RESPECT: With Schneider’s broad portfolio of services comes a variety of driving positions — one sure to fit your lifestyle. Those who have family commitments want predictable miles and plenty of home time (75 percent get home weekly or more). Others want to see the country and rack up as many miles as possible before heading home. Some want to drive with a friend or loved one as a team. Schneider respects their drivers, which means they deliver the right opportunity for each individual. Respect also comes in the form of compensation. In addition to a complete benefits package, Schneider has been independently certified as a Top Pay Carrier by the National Transportation Institute.
