Scott Grenerth, OOIDA’s new regulatory affairs directorThe Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association has announced that longtime trucker and owner-operator Scott Grenerth has joined OOIDA as Director of Regulatory Affairs.
Grenerth spent 13 years as a trucker based out of northwest Ohio before relocating to Grain Valley, Mo., to join the executive team at the Association’s headquarters.
He will be responsible primarily for advocating for truckers by working with regulatory agencies like the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. He comes in at a time when, according to Overdrive polling, more than 90 percent of truckers agree with OOIDA’s call for the resignation of the chief of that agency.
“His background and experience in dealing with these regulations every day more than prepare him to take on this new role,” said Todd Spencer, Executive Vice President. “We look forward to his input on the real-world impact of regulations, and we know he will provide highly relevant perspective to those who regulate the industry nationally.”
Grenerth became an OOIDA member in 2003 and has averaged two trips per year to Washington D.C. to speak to representatives and agencies about issues affecting truckers. Most recently, he gave comments at a public hearing earlier this year hosted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency on fuel economy standards for heavy trucks.
Grenerth holds an associate’s degree in recreation and wildlife interpretive services from Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio. He is originally from Miami, Fla. He is a member of the Trucking Solutions Group and Truckers United for Charities.
