Seattle port schedules truck registry deadline

Port of Seattle has given drayage truckers until Dec. 31 to register their trucks, which are required to have a 1994 engine or newer.

The online registry is available to trucking companies and owner-operators, and requires the truck’s VIN, license plate, make/model and contact information.

If compliant, the driver or company is issued a “Green Gateway” sticker. Security will begin enforcing the sticker requirements Jan. 1.

The Seattle, Tacoma and Metro Vancouver ports adopted the Northwest Ports Clean Air Strategy in 2008.

Trucks may be registered on the port’s Drayage Truck Registry, which went live in July. A dedicated hotline, (206) 787-6888, has been established to help truckers. More information is also available at www.portseattle.org.
