Security firm thwarts cargo theft

| May 10, 2010

A covert tracking device embedded in pill bottles recently thwarted an attempt to steal pharmaceutical cargo and led to both full recovery of the products and an arrest, security solutions provider FreightWatch International announced. The Austin, Texas-based firm says that the security device, the Geo F1 Tracker, is slightly longer than a large paperclip and has real-time capability with web-based monitoring. The tracker, powered by Qualcomm’s inGeo platform, is the smallest wireless covert tracking device available and uses a combination of GPS and cellular signals, says Dan Burges, a FreightWatch spokesman.
