Security protocol: A stay-awake load

Updated May 22, 2012

I learned today more about trading. Learned by studying while I stayed awake to attend the freight we had on board.

Diane drove the final leg of this run. We picked the freight up yesterday morning in Alabama and arrived at our West Virginia delivery several hours before the consignee opened for business.

This is what we call a stay-awake load. Security protocols are attached, requiring one of to be attending the truck and freight at all times while it is in our care. It worked great. Diane arrived and parked the truck at about the time she usually turns the wheel over to me. I got out of bed and enjoyed several uninterrupted hours with my computer in the cab of the truck.

The delivery was routine. We went next to a nearby grocery store to park, sleep and wait for load offers.
