She took the dog!

user-gravatar Headshot

Dear Carolyn,

My wife took our dog and left me for my best friend. Ha. I bet you thought I was going to say I really miss my dog? I don’t miss the wife, dog or the best friend. (Okay, I miss the dog a little bit but it was more her’s than mine. And she used to paint its toenails. Can’t really call that a dog.)They deserve each other. What I do miss is the circle of friends that used to be part of the deal. It seems like they all just moved over to the new regime, leaving me out in the cold. Nobody knows the gory details of how I was cheated on, lied to and made a fool of. Sometimes, I’d like to just clue everyone in. Other times, I feel like I should just move on.
What do you think? It doesn’t seem fair, does it?

Curt

Dear Curt,
No, it really doesn’t. The hard thing about taking the high road is that it’s a pretty lonely stretch of asphalt. But for what it’s worth; I think you are doing the right thing. Put your energy into getting your life back on track. You need new friends, new love and a new dog; not necessarily in that order.
I’m just say’n
Carolyn
