Shell has announced a contest for high school and college students in Michigan, as well as students participating in the Shell Eco-Marathon program, to design the interior of a prototype Class 8 truck.

The Shell Truck Design Challenge gives students an opportunity to win $1,000 for their school by designing the interior of the AirFlow StarShip, a partnership between Shell and AirFlow Truck Company. The truck is meant to break current fuel efficiency records for Class 8 trucks when itโ€™s debuted in 2017, Shell says.

Student entries on the design of the interior will be evaluated on relevance to the design element, design value and quality, concept originality and development potential, as well as connectedness, safety, fuel economy monitoring and ergonomics.

To enter, students must submit renderings, drawings or sketches showing the design from several perspectives, with one illustrating a driver and their expected driving environment. Entries must be submitted via email to [email protected]. The contest runs through April 18.

Official rules and more information on the contest can be found here.
