DREAM COME TRUE

Paul and Melissa Hayden remodeled their 1988 Peterbilt 379 in 2001, changing its pale blue to a viper red with cherry black fenders. They topped it off with trimmings of chrome and light. To surprise her husband, Melissa had the truck’s name, Farm Boy’s Dream, mounted in chrome lettering on the back of the bunk. Powered by a 425-hp Caterpillar, Farm Boy’s Dream hauls grain. Though they are happy with the truck’s new look, Melissa says it remains an ongoing project. “This truck is our toy,” she says.

BIG STICK CLIQUE

For Casey and Martha Hayward of Maricopa, Ariz., taking care of their 2003 Peterbilt 300 is a family affair. The Haywards and their two children, Buster, 9, and Brooke, 8, all help keep the truck looking great. The family uses the truck, which they call Big Stick, to haul aggregate products and volcanic cinders between Phoenix and Flagstaff, Ariz., for BDR Transport. Big Stick has a 600-hp Caterpillar and train horns mounted on a tool box step behind the sleeper. The truck has a 6-foot diamond-plate deck with box steps on each side and diamond-plated full fenders.
