States suspend hours rules

In response to recent storm conditions, a few states have temporarily waived hours-of-service rules, including for Pennsylvania’s oil and propane gas haulers, Maryland storm supply trucks and haulers of poultry feed and supplies to parts of North Carolina.

Pennsylvania has issued a waiver through Feb. 20 of HOS requirements for truckers carrying heating oil and propane gas to homes and businesses for heating purposes.

On Feb. 5, Maryland lifted HOS rules for haulers of oil, propane, salt, fuel and other supplies for storm relief. State officials have not announced an end date for the waiver.

North Carolina Gov. Bev Perdue suspended HOS for poultry farmers carrying feed and supplies delivered to livestock in Alexander, Surry, Wilkes and Yadkin counties. The Feb. 8 executive order is for 30 days or until the emergency situation ends.
