Supreme Court will hear ATA case against Port of Los Angeles

The American Trucking Associations’ lawsuit against the Port of Los Angeles’ and its 2008 requirements of carriers in regards to using only company drivers and not independent contractors is heading to the U.S. Supreme Court. The Court did not provide a date but said it will hear arguments pertaining to FAA exemption and consider if a government entity banning a licensed carrier from a port is a suspension of the carrier’s federal registration.
