Dem lawmakers ask DOT to reject ATA’s petition for reprieve from Calif. break laws
ATA in early October petitioned the DOT to intervene into the ongoing conflict over the state’s stringent laws, which a federal court in 2014 ruled apply to trucking companies and their drivers. A group of 19 Democrats in the House and Senate, however, asked the DOT to reject the petition, saying it requires a Congressional statute.

Senate confirms Chao to head DOT under Trump
Chao told a Senate panel earlier this month her three main goals as head of the U.S. DOT will be to bolster infrastructure funding, bridge the divide over rural and urban transportation need and find better balance between federal regulations and concerns of businesses regulated by the DOT.
