Truck-involved fatalities increased in 2018, estimates show
NHTSA’s preliminary data estimates that 36,750 people were killed in traffic crashes in 2018. The agency estimates truck-involved fatalities increased by 3%, while pedestrian and pedalcyclist fatalities increased by 4% and 10%, respectively.

Trucker involved in fatal Texas crash fled on foot, caught while trying to flee to Mexico
According to Odessa news station CBS7, Jose Baldassari rear-ended a passenger vehicle, which then hit another truck, killing two people before fleeing the scene. He was identified after his wallet was found at the scene.

I-95 South in N.C. closed for 16-mile section after series of truck-involved accidents
The North Carolina Department of Transportation says I-95 South is closed between exit 97 and exit 81 due to the three accidents and is expected to be reopened by Thursday evening after crews repair damage to the roadway. The northbound lanes were closed through early Thursday morning, but are now reopened.
